Notes - 1929-1932-At the age of 19, Nora began teaching at the one room school house known as SS#4, Maple Ridge School,in Livingstone Creek, Thessalon Twp, Algoma, Ontario, Canada. Her father, Herbert Nassau Allen made all of the bricks that were used to build that school. "They were the cement typemade at the site of construction. He used gravel from across the road. Two men could make 2500 bricks in a 10 hour day." (From records found in the Thessalon Library) Several of her siblings attended there while she was teaching.
