James A. Lambert, formerly of the Representative, Mount Forest, died Tuesday afternoon in the Wellesley Hospital in his sixty-second year. Mr. Lambert has been in failing health for the past six months, but was not seriously ill until a month ago. His wife died a year ago this month, since which time Mr. Lambert lived at the Central Y.M.C.A. at Toronto.
He is survived by two sons, Norman P., formerly of the Globe and now Secretary of the Canadian Council of Agriculture, Winnipeg, and Elmer F., General Secretary of the Canadian National Institute for the Blind, Toronto.
Mr. Lambert was born in Cherry Valley, Prince Edward County, and his mother still lives there, in her ninety-first year. He learned the printing business at Picton, and later worked in Mount Forest and Prescott, and then was for a time foreman of THE ACTON FREE PRESS. He went to Mount Forest from this office about the year 1885, and founded The Mount Forest Representative which he conducted successfully until he retired after Mrs. Lambert's death.
Mr. Lambert was a member of the Council a number of times in Mount Forest and was actively identified with the Methodist Church. He was a prominent Conservative and was President of the Conservative Association at that place for a number of years. He also belonged to the Oddfellows. In his younger days he was a lacrosse player and later took up bowling.
James A. Lambert was a man of sterling integrity. He was upright in character and used his best endeavors for the moral uplift of every community where he resided. Interment will be at Mount Forest to-day.
